- Spring Book Fair, Buy One Get One
Free: The Buy One, Get One Book Fair project is set for June 7-11, 2010. We need some reliable volunteers to walk the floor, watch for
shoplifters, and assist customers with finding books. We also need PTA members
who are willing to work the cash registers. For more information, or to
volunteer at the fair, please contact us at
info@daybreakpta.org.
- One for Books/Weigh in for Change:
This project has been an unbelievable success in the past, and we want to do it all
over again! All of the money collected through this program goes directly to
purchasing more books for our schools. In addition, Scholastic will match
monetary donations raised with a donation of up to one million books to three
non-profit organizations dedicated to helping kids and families in need. They
include: Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., National Center for Family
Literacy, and Toys for Tots.
To put some fun into the program at school, the Daybreak PTA has added a twist
to One for Books. With Weigh in for Change, students, parents, and staff can
donate loose change to their classroom's jug, and the classroom from each
school with the heaviest amount of change collected at the end of the contest
wins a pizza party for their class. We are looking for volunteers to help
collect, weigh, and record classroom change collections and coordinate the
pizza parties for the two winning classrooms. For more information or to
volunteer for this program, contact us at
info@daybreakpta.org, or plan to
attend our next meeting on November 17,
2009 at
7:00 pm in the Daybreak Media Center.
